Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:

This position contributes creative insight, technical expertise and enthusiasm for team productivity in developing, designing and producing visual graphics in support of BPV product marketing efforts. The performance emphasis is the timely generation of print and web graphics which effectively communicate critical information in a visually stimulating manner, in strict compliance with Corporate and BPV MasterBrand. Incumbent also assumes a due share of the administrative overhead of the Group, ensuring proper filing of creative output, orienting new staff and general department housekeeping.


Essential Job Functions:

Strategizes with product managers in the development of print and web graphic materials which communicate complex information to a technically sophisticated target audience. Researches, develops and produces graphic materials which support the goals and objectives of yearly BPV Driver Goals, BPV Critical Factors and Franchise needs. Develops, produces and distributes new product launch packets within established deadlines.

  • Designs, prints and assembles new concept mock-ups for web, print and packaging design.
  • Collaborates with Meeting & Conventions Team in the production of graphic materials in support of National and Regional BPV Meetings.
  • Attends press checks, as necessary, to ensure quality print output.
  • Organizes and directs product photo shoots, requiring a working knowledge of photography concepts and techniques as well as a thorough familiarity with the BPV products being photographed.
  • Maintains an understanding of current print and paper industry trends; incorporates Forest Steward Counsel and print industry recycling standards where applicable.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of the Creative Services filing/archiving system; assists in maintaining/expanding the system structure; ensures all work output is appropriately filed.
  • Assists Group Manager in orienting/training new staff.
  • Contributes to the team approach of the Creative Services Group; brainstorms with other designers to stimulate new ideas and maintain overall consistency; assists other designers in delivering final work product, especially product launch packets, when deadlines demand; fill-in for other designers during vacation or other excused absences.
  • Distributes graphics, photos and images when appropriately requested by internal or external parties.
  • Directs, supervises and negotiates with outside designers when workload requires.

Job Requirements:


Basic Qualifications:

A working knowledge of offset and digital printing techniques and layouts (press sheets).

  • A working knowledge of personal computer usage (PC and Mac). Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite 6 or higher and Microsoft Office 2007 or higher.
  • General understanding of photography techniques and the ability to direct professional photographers in the capture of BPV products within an established photographic style.
  • The ability to produce quality work output while under the stress of tight deadlines, high work volume and competing demands.
  • A basic understanding of web/Internet design and production.

Education and/or Experience:

An Associates Degree in General Studies with course work toward a Bachelor’s Degree in fine arts with emphasis on graphic design or an art institute equivalent.

  • A minimum of 5 years working experience in graphic design, print production, photography and web support.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools, controls and office equipment. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear.The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch.
