Description and Desired Qualifications
Principal Mechanical Engineer-Pipeline - Anchorage, AK
The challenge? Helping ensure the world's oil and gas supply. At CH2M HILL, we deliver solutions that span the entire breadth of the oil and gas industry. Our Principal Mechanical Engineer position will provide you with the opportunity to work on exciting pipeline projects for the North Slope of Alaska and beyond. Each day you will be an important team member as you participate in the design, stress analysis, and code and specification development for pipelines that must withstand the harsh arctic Alaska environment. You should be a self-motivated and detailed oriented senior Mechanical Engineer with 15 or more years of experience in pipeline design, codes and specification development.
Our Principal Mechanical Engineer-Pipelines
Acts as a technical specialist and or lead engineer in providing technical guidance for assigned projects
Provides diversified knowledge of design engineering principles and practices and independently makes decisions on significant design problems or methods
Assists in the development of scope of work, effort hour estimates, staffing plan and scheduling
Prepares technical reports and documentation of activity for the client and project management
Exhibits good understanding of applicable industry codes and standard practices
Provides technical sales support, works with business development colleagues in client presentations
Prepares technical bid tabs and reviews/approves vendor submittals
Analyzes complex design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures
Applies knowledge of ASME codes and specs for the Oil & Gas industry (Piping, & Pipelines)
Has experience in utilizing various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment
SPECIAL NOTE: CH2M HILL will not sponsor a work visa (e.g. H-1B visa, etc.,) to fill this position.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from accredited college or university
15 years experience in design of oil/gas pipelines
5 years experience with ASME pipe codes 31.3; 31.4; 31.8
5 years experience in pipe stress analysis
Previous experience in arctic pipeline design
Previous experience in a Lead" engineering position
Excellent verbal and communications skills
Previous experience in a client relationship role
Proficiency with Microsoft software tools including Outlook, Word, Exel and PowerPoint
Degree Required
Bachelors or 4 Year Degree
