The primary responsibility of this role is to independently analyze transgenic plant samples by PCR and western blot. The position produces critical data that support ongoing research as well as product development.
The incumbent will:
Design, plan, implement and execute an approach to a critical milestone;
Deal with detailed analysis of transgenic plants using molecular biology and biochemistry techniques;
Coach and complement, when necessary, team members in design and planning;
Prepare adequate reports and inform the research project team(s) on a regular basis;
Manage confidentiality of competitive know-how;
Ensure compliance with all existing safety and stewardship standards in the area of responsibility, taking into account laws, regulations and directives, and evaluate potential risks of the research activities.

Skills:
|
The selected candidate is required to possess the following:
B.S. degree in Molecular Biology, Plant Molecular Biology or physiology, systems biology and/or application of genomics technologies related field;
Some relevant biotechnology experience in academic or industrial laboratory environment;
Experience with genomic DNA preparation, PCR, protein extraction, and western blotting; experience with protein expression in e. coli and purification of tagged, expressed proteins; experience in antibody titer a plus;
Familiarity with the use of fundamental bioinformatics tools;
Demonstrated record of consistency and accuracy working in a technical environment;
Prior experience working in a team environment and ability to adapt to the atmosphere of a dynamic research organization;
Creative and flexible thinking;
Excellent organizational, record-keeping skills;
Proficient verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills;
Proficient Computer skills: MS Office, other scientific programs as needed;
Preferred Qualifications
B.S. degree in Plant Molecular Biology;
Previous experience with research program/scientific project initiatives;
Experience with biochemical techniques;
2+ years relevant plant biotechnology experience in an industrial laboratory environment;
Previous research experience with industrial crops (soybean, corn, wheat, rice, etc.).
