Job Description:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

  • A CNC Programmer is responsible for maintaining current CNC programs for mill and lathes.

DUTIES

  • Creates CNC G-Code programs using Cam software
  • Establishes programming standards within the shop
  • Ensures all CNC programs are maintained
  • Configures appropriate tooling
  • Creates, maintains, and standardizes set-up sheets
  • Selects the appropriate fixtures and/or designs new fixtures when necessary
  • Multitasks between creating new programs and editing programs
  • Possesses good communication and organizational skills
  • Other Duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Two-year College or technical school in machine technology with emphasis in CNC programming or three to four years' experience in a machining environment.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in field.
  • Must have well developed mechanical skills and knowledge of computer-assisted Cam software and CNC equipment.

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • May be required to see or read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, fork lift, etc.
