Job Description:

CNC/NC Programmer to program numerical control (NC) and computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines that automatically mill, punch, drill, or broach metal parts.
The responsibilities of this position include:
• Creates new and modifies existing programs according to standard practice instructions (SPI).
• Backs-up records to disk new and modified programs according to standard practice instructions (SPI).
• Studies blue prints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specification or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances, sequence of operations, and set up requirements.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media.
• Makes adjustments to adhere to job specifications.
• Verifies availability of tooling and fixtures required by CNC programs. Initiates requests for purchased and manufactured tooling and fixtures. Confers with purchasing and the tool and die supervisor on scheduling and receiving tooling and fixtures.
• Completes all required work order reporting and documentation.
• Confers with engineers, production personnel or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
• Assists in creating new item master routings for machined items or other new items requiring CNC programming in the Fike Business System.
• Assists in auditing work orders for modified work order routings, item master routings, routing changes, saw lengths and program numbers.
• Adheres to safety practices and procedures.
• Follows procedures as defined by Fike policies, procedures and ISO9001 requirements.

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma or a General Educational Development Diploma (GED).
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions, work orders and engineered drawings.
• Ability to use shop mathematics.
• Four years experience as a fully operational set up and run machinist.
• Four years experience programming NC or CNC machinery.
