Job Description:




The Manager, Maintenance directs the day-to-day maintenance activities within a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility and provides the maintenance team with leadership and support to ensure the highest level of service and satisfaction to the Operations group. Maintenance activities include preventative maintenance, repair, upgrading and improvement to production machinery, manufacturing-related facility equipment & utilities (HVAC, lighting, interior maintenance) and manufacturing related spaces. Investigates deviations, performs root cause analysis, identifies corrective and preventive actions. Prepares annual expense budgets for the Maintenance department, and contributes to manufacturing, packaging and capital budgets. Interacts with manufacturers, parts suppliers and contractors to resolve equipment problems and maintenance issues. Coordinates, supports and leads projects with outside contractors/vendors and internal resources from other groups.
 
Essential Duties
 
Directs all aspects of the Maintenance department. Prioritizes activities, schedules, and assigns repairs to Maintenance Technicians to minimize interruptions in manufacturing and packaging. Evaluates department performance, individual performance and staffing needs. Identifies training needs as applicable. Addresses employee performance with appropriate action. Directs the maintenance requirements of the plant buildings and establishes standards and policies for all aspects of system and equipment design, operation and repair. Utilizes Hazard Analysis and Root Cause Failure Analysis to determine true solutions to building system and equipment problems. Acts as a technical resource for the Engineering & Facilities and Operations and makes recommendations regarding building improvements and equipment upgrades.
Maintains maintenance record files for all equipment including preventive maintenance schedules, parts suppliers, manufacturers, and equipment history. Prepares annual expense budgets for the Maintenance department, contribute to manufacturing, packaging and capital budgets. Manages controllable expenses within approved parameters and tracks budget variances. Contributes to cost estimates and financial justifications for capital purchases. nteracts with manufacturers, parts suppliers and contractors to resolve equipment problems and maintenance issues. Ensures that contractors/vendors are informed of and adhere to all appropriate company procedures and policies.
Manages departmental policies, procedures and activities to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice. Responsible for ensuring operational and safety guidelines are maintained in accordance with the Corporate Safety & Health Program.
Develop reports for management on maintenance projects and repairs. Prepare and analyze metrics associate with equipment maintenance to support maintenance schedules, improvements and spends.
Provide technical assessment on equipment failures and documents the repairs performed on exception reports.
Assist in the development of validation documentation for new equipment. Develop and implement Continuous Improvement program within the maintenance department.
Participate and represent maintenance on Project Teams
Maintains inventory level on parts and materials for equipment, and assigns work orders to maintenance staff.
 

 

Job Requirements:

Requirements:
 
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, chemical) with a minimum of 6+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment (automated machinery) + 2 years direct management or supervisory experience. OR Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline (non-engineering) with a minimum of 9+ years of experience working in manufacturing/maintenance position in a manufacturing environment (automated machinery) and 2 + years direct management or supervisor experience. Experience in developing and managing equipment reliability, repair, and maintenance programs for automated machinery and facility based utilities required. Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment strongly preferred (i.e. GMP). Microsoft Office product experience required. SAP experience preferred. Computerized Maintenance Management Systems experience preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
