The Electrical Engineer will provide technical support required in the area of electrical engineering. This is to include engineering design, installation, diagnostic, problem solving, and training on electrical/electronic control systems of facilities and equipment in Kohler Co. Facilities. 

Specific Responsibilities: 

  • Provide technical support to Maintenance for AC and DC electronic drives, PLC's, and control systems. Supply training when required to Maintenance Electricians on specific systems.
  • Provide assistance to Maintenance on maintenance related projects.
  • Replacement of obsolete technology for which replacement parts are difficult or impossible to obtain.
  • Modifications to existing controls for improved process control, reliability, safety and compliance with OSHA requirements.
  • Update and archive electrical prints, PLC programs, operator interface software, etc. necessary for the documentation of projects that have gone into production.
  • Design electrical control and communication systems for production equipment.
  • Evaluate the suitability of equipment and materials and establish standards for equipment and installation of equipment to be used in Kohler Co. facilities.
  • Develop cost estimates and monitor work to ensure compliance with project budget.
  • Develop specifications for projects to assure completion of work on schedule with required materials and workmanship.
  • Coordinate the installation of electrical equipment by contractors and plant personnel to meet scheduled completion dates.
  • Travel to project location may be required for design, construction and commissioning.
  • Assist Production and Maintenance in the start-up and operation of new equipment and facilities.
  • Provide emergency and off-hour technical support to Maintenance departments.
  • Assist with repair of electronic control systems at component level and development of system test capabilities.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering degree or Bachelor of Science in electronics engineering technology degree.
  • Minimum of three years design experience is required, including industrial controls.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Interest in factory automation.
  • Creativity.
  • Self-motivation.
  • Ability to function effectively within the project team environment.
