Job Summary:

The Accounting Associate reports to the Consumer Banking Business Unit Controller focused primarily on accounting and reporting of Consumer Lending products. This exciting role will be responsible for assisting with accounting and financial reporting matters within the Consumer Banking business unit including new products and services the business unit is rolling out. The right individual will be ready for a dynamic role becoming a subject matter expert while gathering accounting and reporting requirements, supporting the month-end close process, responding to financial reporting requests, identifying and escalating significant transactions and assisting with SOX and internal and external audits.

Major Responsibilities:

50% - Advisory/Projects:

Advise business units and accounting staff on accounting and reporting matters. Work on projects (e.g., systems upgrades, new reporting requirements, etc.) as needed to ensure accurate accounting results

50% - Month-End Close and Financial Reporting:

Research and provide variance explanations in support of the month-end close. Coordinate the gathering of information for SEC reporting, regulatory reporting, management reporting, and tax filings. Review and certify SEC reports.


B.A. / B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance.

Additional preferred qualifications:
  • Accounting skills and experience including financial reporting, accounting policy, internal controls, systems implementations and change management
  • 2+ years of experience in Accounting
  • Excellent verbal and written skills are essential
  • A strong knowledge of databases
  • A process improvement mindset to continually find ways to improve the reporting and control structure
