Associate Facilities Program Coordinator (Maintenance Manager)

Buffalo State, State University of New York, seeks candidates for the position of Maintenance Manager.

The position provides direction, leadership and daily management for SUNY Buffalo State facility maintenance and operations with a staff of approximately 50+ personnel. The Maintenance Manager plans and organizes the day-to-day operations of the trade’s and grounds personnel to ensure effective and efficient use of staff, materials and equipment. The position will lead and develop personnel (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Paint, Masonry, Welding, Roofing, Grounds and Residential), through the use of effective coaching, performance measurement and mentoring. Functional responsibilities include the maintenance management of campus buildings; grounds and equipment, emergency maintenance repair and response, regulatory inspections(s) and repair, and externally contracted maintenance services. This position is designated as “essential (critical)  personnel” for emergency response needs.

Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated skill in planning, scheduling, organizing and monitoring building repair work and grounds maintenance.
Working knowledge of commercial electrical, mechanical, plumbing and HVAC systems.
Experience complying with OSHA, Asbestos and Health and Safety standards.
Skill in problem solving, leading initiatives, enforcing policies, and managing work flow.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact positively with campus administrators, staff and students.
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, train, supervise, and evaluate trades and grounds staff.
Valid NYS driver’s license.
Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
AAS degree in engineering; construction technology, or closely related discipline.
Progressive experience managing skilled building trades.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering; construction technology, or closely related discipline.
Comprehensive experience supervising skilled building trades personnel.
Experience troubleshooting and repair of commercial mechanical, plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems.
Experience with supervision and management oversight  of unionized staff.
Prior experience in the management of higher education, or similar type physical plant facility operations.
Comprehensive experience in building renovation projects.
Experience with computerized maintenance management programs (TMA).
Certified Professional Maintenance Management Certification (CPMM).
