THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD
The Kansas Army National Guard Medical Detachment requires Medical Record Technician services to support the assessment of the medical readiness of Army National Guard personnel. Technicians must be fully capable of physically conducting basic administrative actions including record keeping, spreadsheet development, active communication, deadline tracking and use of all electronic systems with the ability to be certified and/or qualified through any Government Security or Validation program as needed to conduct the required services. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Adhere to the policies and procedures for the preparation, disposition and use of the Army electronic and paper medical records and other healthcare documentation in accordance with Army Regulation 40-66 and:
Attend SRP events as determined by the needs of the state and individual Units
Ensure all medical documentation received from the Soldier, Medical Readiness NCO or physician office is received and placed in HRR, as well as the Soldier’s Service Treatment Records (STR).
Provide dedicated STR assistance in support of medical Case Management.
Obtain completed Release of Information Form from Soldiers.
Provide maintenance and accountability of Soldier STR in accordance with Army Regulation (AR) 40-66
Scan and upload Medical/Dental documents into the Health Readiness Record (HRR) program
Organize & File Medical/Dental documents into Soldiers’ hard copy Service Treatment Records.
Accurately index uploaded Medical/Dental documents
Process all STR requests to include active, and retired/discharged Soldiers as well as Interstate Transfers in a timely manner.
Assist in scrubbing MEDPROS data/spreadsheets before SRPs to assist in early identification of non-deployable Soldiers
Organize and process Discharged STRs in Record Holding Area to include scanning, indexing and filing
Review Order Logs and process accordingly when Soldier’s status changes
Complete State Validation Rosters to verify accurate data processing of STRs
Adhere to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) standards and guideline
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Medical Records Technician
Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills
Previous experience working with DoD and Army policies and procedures desired
Previous experience with the use of several DOD web-based electronic data systems; (e.g. Medical Operational Data System (MODS), Medical Electronic Data for Care History and Readiness Tracking (MEDCHART), Joint Centralized Credentialing Quality Assurance System (JCCQASP), and MILPDS preferred
Proficiency with computer and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required.
Must be willing to travel to other Kansas Army National Guard locations if required.
