AMEWAS, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and talented Sheet Metal Technician to support Aircraft Prototype System Division. This position is on a SCA contract which is subject to the terms and conditions of the McNamara-O’Hara Service Contract Act (SCA).
This position is classified as AMEWAS labor category Technician.
This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.
A typical day as a Sheet Metal Technician may include:
Preforming repairs, fabrications, modifications and installations of sheet metal parts, items and assemblies.
Applying knowledge of the physical properties and working characteristics of sheet metal.
Applying knowledge of tools and equipment required in the sheet metal trade along with shop mathematics/principles.
Preforming tasks both in aircraft fabrication shops, on aircraft located local to NAS Patuxent River and at non-local sites.
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience
Aircraft modification experience
Ability to locate aircraft locations (Using waterlines, butt lines and frame stations), use mechanical drawings/blue prints, operate pneumatic rivet squeezers, rivet guns/bucking bars, torque wrenches and drills.
Must be familiar with aircraft grade hardware (Solid rivets, Hi-Loks, Dzus fasteners)
Ability to use fall protection equipment and measuring tools (Scales, dial calipers, etc.)
Candidates must be able to stand, kneel or sit for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to travel up to 25%
Ability to obtain DoD Secret security clearance

Physical environment and working conditions:
The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.
The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site. In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site. In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.
