Senior Data Engineer US-IL-Scott AFB

OBXtek is currently staffing for a Senior Data Engineer. This position will be responsible for providing engineering expertise to develop the data and data analytics capabilities of Air Mobility Command (AMC) systems.  AMC, in concert with USTRANSCOM and its components and commercial partners, delivers Rapid Global Mobility to all the services, Combatant Commands, National Leadership Authorities, and other priority customers.  Relevant systems support command and control of AMC assets, allow management of transportation requirements, provide visibility of asset movements, and integrate both mobility and combat Air Force capabilities across multiple domains.

The Senior Data Engineer shall perform the following without delay or impact to current schedules:

• Assess technical maturity and analytical rigor of data analytics technologies to recommend their implementation or further development
• Develop strategic plans for incremental fielding of data analytics capabilities
• Prototype data analytics and machine learning systems
• Capture, derive, translate into feasible system designs, verify, and validate requirements for data analytics and machine learning capabilities

*This position can be worked 100% remotely within the Scott AFB area, with availability to come to the base for meetings.*

Required Qualifications:

• Active Secret Clearance
• MS in Mathematics, Data Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science or related area
• Five to ten years’ experience applying data science to one or more of the following:
  • Air mobility systems and other defense-related transportation systems
  • Cybersecurity systems
  • Fusion of dynamic data from multiple sources
  • National security and military operations
• Familiarity with Air Force and other military and civilian systems and networks
• Experience in researching, analyzing, comprehending, and documenting system data contents and data dependencies between systems
• Experience contributing to or managing development of enterprise data strategies, including data architecture, data quality, data management, and data governance
• Experience translating operational experience into system user interface requirements, system interface requirements, and system data requirements
• Strong experience in agile software development, algorithm development, and data analytics (to include big data analytics, data mining, and data science) to enable data-driven decisions and insights
• Experience evaluating analytics technology solutions for maturity and fitness for capability requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in developing and implementing data standards, policies, service level agreements, and data metrics
• Military, transportation, and geospatial data knowledge and background
• Experience developing test and evaluation criteria for analytic technologies
• Working knowledge and experience with software development using data analytics software frameworks
• Experience in development of data analytic capabilities in cloud-based hosting environments
