Responsibilities

OBXtek is currently staffing for a Maintenance and Repair (M&R) Technician who specializes in maintenance, repair, lifecycle replacement, full system upgrades, and manufacture of peripherals associated with all Diplomatic Security (DS) approved technical security equipment deployed across training sites. This person works under the guidance of the Program Office.  

Major Duties:

  • Serves as member of Maintenance & Repair group;
  • Installs and maintains technical security counterterrorism and counterintelligence training systems such as: security video surveillance, intrusion detection, perimeter protection, explosive detection, vehicle arrest, physical security, security management system enterprise network, and chemical dispersion;
  • Maintains equipment and systems in accordance with manufacturer literature and Diplomatic Security (DS) or organization standards and deployment document packages;
  • Implements preventative maintenance schedule for each technical security system installed under the office's Maintenance and Repair (M&R) purview;
  • Documents work activities via the Department's Security Technology's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Ensures CMMS work orders, assets accountability, and purchasing procedures follow established SOPs;
  • Performs bench repair to the component level on approved training equipment by inspecting, diagnosing, correcting, documenting, and reporting equipment flaws and failures;
  • Assists with annual radiation compliance surveys for all ionizing radiation equipment;
  • Implements approved lifecycle schedule for assets based on routine maintenance, wear and tear caused by student use, equipment age, technology trends, and existing equipment approvals;
  • Develops a comprehensive understanding of DS installation policies, standards, applicable codes, and regulations;
  • Processes and completes approved supply and service requests related to training equipment and projects;
  • Maintains workshops, tools, parts and supplies;
  • Develops the required knowledge of the sub-systems and components of responsible approved systems, as well as the electrical and mechanical systems ancillary to or supporting the primary equipment;
  • Employee will require some supervision and has a growing opportunity to exercise independent judgment and initiative in the line of work.  

Work will be hybrid in nature: 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely from home.

Qualifications

Professional Qualifications/Skills:

  • Two (2) or more years' experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of electronic, electrical, and/or electro-mechanical systems and equipment;
  • Knowledge of electronics technology, technical security systems, and safety standards and practices;
  • Knowledge of Federal procurement regulations, policies and procedures;
  • Knowledge of military, law enforcement, and/or Government security operations, programs, plans and relationships;
  • Skill in providing good customer service;
  • Skill in organizing, managing, and prioritizing multiple tasks;
  • Skill in oral and written communication to prepare documents and guidelines, provide technical advice and assistance, and coordinate work with others;
  • Ability to research and analyze information quickly;
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements (walking, standing, bending and lifting of medium to heavy objects).

Desired:
  • Knowledge of logistical processes, inventory management and established inventory management and supply systems (e.g. Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Integrated Logistics Management System (ILMS) preferred);

Education:
  • Associate's degree preferred or equivalent technical training. Years of experience may be substituted for formal education.
