Job Description

The nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare is seeking a detailed and effective communicator to serve as lead staff support for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Executive Committee of the Board. As an integral part of the CEO Administration team, the Manager, Executive Initiatives will effectively collaborate with colleagues across the AAP to provide high level strategic and administrative support to the Executive Committee; support the development of leadership-prioritized initiatives and processes, from creating frameworks through execution and ongoing management; and provide project management support in the implementation of the AAP Equity Agenda and serve as liaison between internal and external stakeholders.

Qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management, business, or related discipline required, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • At least three years’ related project management experience required, including some involvement with budgets, coordinating meeting logistics and agendas, and leading cross-collaborative teams that involve executive leadership.
  • Experience working for a professional association and with Board Members or high-level executives strongly preferred.
  • Must be detail oriented, take initiative, able to manage multiple complex priorities simultaneously, work efficiently both as part of a team and independently, collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents, and promote and maintain a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, diplomacy, and oral/written communication skills essential.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and sound decision-making in a variety of situations; to maintain a high level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality; to influence, but also build consensus and maintain good relations with staff, members, and organizational partners.
  • Must have strong technical acumen, with proficiency in MS Office and the ability to learn and apply new technologies; familiarity with databases (eg, netForum and Access), virtual meeting platforms (eg, WebEx, Teams), and web editing software (eg, SharePoint) preferred.
  • Some evening/weekend work and travel required.

Hybrid work environment of 40% of work time in the office per month.
