The Senior Data Center Infrastructure Engineer is responsible LAN/WAN design and support, cloud design and support, and virtual server setup and support. This position provides direct customer support to hosted clients and serves as backup to the DC ICT Manager.

  • Maintain and repair servers and network equipment to ensure maximum level of uptime within the Data Center
  • Perform troubleshooting with specialty in a single discipline and knowledge of many
  • Logs all incidents into SD Data Center’s ticket tracking system and all support activities related to customers or customer projects as incurred (real-time)
  • Monitors all assigned tickets and ensures ticket data is accurate so that customer billing is not negatively impacted
  • Approves financial expenditures within the limits defined by the Director and without need for secondary approvals
  • Develops SOPs relevant to the systems and services under the responsibility of this job description and as defined by the Director

Network Specific Tasks:

  • Manages and maintains inventory of network circuits and assists with cross-connects inventory across all facilities
  • Manages network carrier vendors from new service to support of existing services and other data center vendors for cross-connect orders
  • Handles support requests for network traffic issues, BGP peering, and service modifications
  • Manages network PoP infrastructure at every peering location including capacity management
  • Maintains public Peering Data Base ( and Internet Routing Registry (RADb) with up to date information on BGP paths and prefixes
  • Maintains ARIN and other regional registries such as RIPE and APNIC
  • Manages MPLS based transport network across all locations including client provisioning
  • Manages IP Transit network (The Internet) for SD Data Center across all peering locations as well as upstream (carrier) and downstream (client) peering sessions and change requests
  • Manages peering on multiple internet exchanges and follows peering etiquette
  • Manages various platforms related to IP Transit network such as Andrisoft WANGuard DDoS, netflow analyzers and collectors, and IP SLA monitoring
  • Performs route optimization analysis across all paths
  • Manages data center’s hosting environment core network, which provides access services for vCloud, Veeam, and Bare Metal server products

  • Basic understanding of electrical and datacenter safety - candidate should know how to work safe within a data center
  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage and execute tasks given on a daily basis via a ticketing system
  • Knowledge of risk and controls landscape, ensuring company-wide standards are met
  • Understanding of data center concepts (space, power, cooling)
  • Working knowledge of physical IT infrastructure (server, networking, storage)
  • Understanding of network concepts (switching, routing, perimeter security)
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member or team lead on projects assigned by the Director
  • Able to travel within the continental United States, Hawaii, Europe, and Australia
  • Advanced knowledge of virtualization solutions
  • Advanced knowledge of networking
  • Advanced knowledge of firewalls and security solutions
  • Experience in LAN/WAN/Metro networking and support
  • Knowledge of structured cabling, data center racking equipment, power distribution systems, and data recovery solutions is preferred
  • Ability to execute within a customer-centric environment
  • Ability to manage time and project commitments without need for direct supervision
  • Ability to abide by all policies and procedures and offers corrections or modifications as needed to maintain the highest level of accuracy in documentation and operations
  • Ability to commit to continuous professional development through research and study of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies


  • Active CCIE in Routing and Switching or Data Center is required
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, computer science, or Information Technology or equivalent experience is required
  • 5+ years in the information technology field
  • Experience in data centers is a plus
  • Have experience configuring Layer2 Pseudowires and Layer3 VPN services
  • Experience with physical layer infrastructure and testing tools (racking, cabling)
  • Have experience designing and maintaining a network using VXLAN MP-BGP EVPN spine-and-leaf
  • Maintains industry knowledge of current and future products lines and assists with hosting product development
  • Experience with Servers and Desktop Support
  • Experience with SANs and other advanced storage solutions


This position is critical to data center operations and is expected to respond to calls on a 24x7 basis unless on authorized PTO and staff during Hurricanes

While performing general office duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening and reading, able to lift heavy objects (>50lbs), and use standard office equipment such as computer, printer, phone and cell phone as well as various Networking and Data Center related equipment. The employee may be required to utilize (ascend/descend) a ladder and various tools. In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist or stoop in order to open/close cabinets, reach for files or other standard office type objects. 


The office environment is generally quiet and, in a temperature, controlled setting with random adjustments in noise or temperature due to others talking or laughing loudly, unscheduled maintenance repairs to the building or its interior offices or unpredictable situations due to weather or other acts beyond company control. An employee must be willing to work their regularly assigned work schedule for their particular duties and/or job responsibilities and in times of need, be able to work an extended schedule depending on company/department needs, project requirements or customer demands. Some overnight travel is required to facilitate work objectives. While at client site locations, if applicable, employee will be required to adhere to the proper safety precautions established by the client while in proximity to their work area, flight-line or maintenance repair center; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment. The temperature at client locations can vary from controlled to variations off hot/cold when working, standing or walking in or near the flight-line or maintenance repair center.

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role in Colorado is $110,000-$140,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
