POSITION SUMMARY

Harvey Mudd College is recruiting for a highly motivated and service-oriented Technical Assistant to work in the Registrar’s Office, within the Academic Affairs Division. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-exempt position that reports to the Associate Registrar.

The Technical Assistant for the Office of the Registrar provides customer service, quality assurance, and technical support for the Office of the Registrar. The Technical Assistant answers student, faculty, staff, and alumni queries pertaining to college policies, particularly regarding records and registration; serves as primary contact for transcripts and degree/enrollment verifications, including support of contracted third party services and vendors such as the National Student Clearinghouse and Parchment; conducts end-user testing of various student information systems and processes; enters, maintains, and validates the accuracy of historical and contemporary academic data; troubleshoots technical issues; assists with new systems implementations; and assists with a broad range of technical and administrative tasks. Work includes processing requests and inquiries at the front of the office. Training on policies, procedures, and systems in use at the College will be provided.

  • Ability to work with diverse groups of students, alumni, faculty, and staff.
  • Personal integrity and ability to interact successfully with various constituencies on campus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of the Registrar’s Office, as well as independently.
  • Desire to be a team member on collaborative projects and implementation of new initiatives.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a problem-solving mindset. Positive attitude and strong work ethic.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Experience: Two years of related experience, preferably in a technical, public-facing role.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a college or university environment, ideally in a registrar’s office setting, is a plus.

Physical Requirements Summary: Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment and include reaching, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. May occasionally lift/push/pull items up to 15 lbs.

OTHER

Hours:  The regular hours for this position are Monday through Friday; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; 12 months per year. Hours may vary due to needs of the college or department.

Classification and Status: This is a full-time, benefits eligible, nonexempt position.

Reporting: This position reports to the Associate Registrar.
