The position:

AMEWAS, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and talented Pulsed Power Electrical Engineer to support Electromagnetic Environmental Effects.

This position is classified as AMEWAS labor category Electrical Engineer.

A typical day as a Pulsed Power Electrical Engineer may include:

  • This is a hands-on practical application job working in both indoor and outdoor environments supporting electromagnetic pulse (EMP) testing for a new or experienced engineer.
  • You will be working independently and with a team depending on the tasks at hand.
  • Researching and designing test equipment and systems
  • Integrating and modifying electromagnetic pulse simulation equipment and systems
  • Operating and maintaining high voltage and other complex equipment used to perform electromagnetic pulse test and evaluation
  • Planning and executing electromagnetic pulse simulation testing, data collection, and analyses
  • Identifying simulation/high voltage system malfunctions and coordinating repair
  • Fabricating test support tools, parts and systems

Must-haves:

  • BSEE or appropriate degree
  • Excellent sense of circuit design and applied circuit analysis
  • Working knowledge of RF fundamentals that include field theory
  • Practical knowledge of oscilloscopes, functional generators, attenuators, and network analyzers
  • Practical experience working with coaxial cable with an understanding of impedance
  • Previous experience soldering
  • Previous experience using basic hand tools and putting things together
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in gas control systems and pneumatics
  • Experience with mechanical design and analysis
  • Familiarity of pulsed power and high voltage systems
  • Experience using CAD and/or MATLAB

Physical environment and working conditions:

The physical environment requires the employee to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and picking up items less than 50 lbs. and/or operating machinery to assist in the movement of heavy objects such as forklifts and dollies.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
