The IT Program Manager II/III will work across the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center to manage the IT Application Rationalization program, strategically prioritizing business applications to determine which applications should be kept, replaced, retired, or consolidated, balancing costs with the needs of the stakeholders.    

Responsibilities

  • Strategize and plan a recommended course of action based on the current application inventory.  
  • Charter and scope the plan to gain agreement on the vision and mandate behind the project, in alignment with business goals. Establish resources, budget, and governance systems. 
  • Segment the applications into pace layers: summarize the costs of maintaining foundational systems of record, while allowing faster and cheaper delivery of differentiating capabilities.  
  • Articulate the costs and risks of each potential rationalization project, including the opportunity cost of doing nothing. 
  • Integrate the project with strategic IT and business plans, this may mean refactoring timelines and scope of existing project work. 
  • Convene, educate, and engage key stakeholders on business implications of applications portfolio decisions. 
  • Provide overall communication and interface with all areas affected by the program/project including cross-functional stakeholders and dependent teams. 
  • Take a proactive approach to dealing with ambiguity; seek out and create clarity. 
  • Provide leadership to project managers, foster a positive team environment, and provide direction in ambiguous situations. 
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with team members, project sponsors and peers; is customer service focused.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (IT Program Manager II) 

  • Experience in application rationalization and cost optimization is strongly sought, including the ability to take an analytical and independent approach to the assessment.
  • Strong program management skills with experience managing and delivering complex and critical programs.
  • Minimum of 7 years of proven experience in managing enterprise or complex IT programs and projects.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.
  • Skilled in prioritization. Makes the right trade-offs between schedule, resources, and scope in order to address major risks, challenges, and obstacles.
  • Excellent communication skills, problem solving, conflict / resolution management, active listening, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to influence others by negotiating and building cohesiveness across diverse individual skills and styles.

  • Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in managing enterprise or complex IT programs and projects.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.
  • Skilled in prioritization. Makes the right trade-offs between schedule, resources, and scope in order to address major risks, challenges, and obstacles.
  • Excellent communication skills, problem solving, conflict / resolution management, active listening, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to influence others by negotiating and building cohesiveness across diverse individual skills and styles 

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS required or equivalent experience.
  • PMI Certifications preferred: PMP, CSM or ACP.
  • Experience with ERP solutions.
  • Vendor Management experience.

 

In addition to job duties at Fred Hutch, this position also requires access to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, which requires COVID-19 vaccination without exceptions.
