Position: Director of Career Readiness and Success


Positioned in the new division of Economic Mobility and Workforce Innovation and reporting to the Dean of Career and Professional Development, the Director of Career Readiness and Success will build and maintain a portfolio of partnerships to support students' applied learning and career readiness and success. The role will oversee management of RCC’s Perkins-CTE program that focuses on leading initiatives designed to increase student career readiness with special emphasis on equity population students enrolled in CTE programs.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Career Readiness 

●      Identify activities that collaboratively engage employers in providing structured learning experiences.

●      Work with faculty to identify practical work experiences that directly relate to a student’s program of study.

●      Create and maintain the systems that enable students to receive credit for the various activities within career engagement, exposure, and exploration.


Career Readiness + Success

●      Direct career advising to students and alumni regarding the job-search process, interviewing, resume and letter writing, and all other facets of career planning.

●      Manages workshops, seminars, and other presentations to student, faculty, employer, and alumni groups in partnership with Rockland’s Career Center and other partnerships.

●      Coordinates communication with deans, program directors, and faculty to ensure that the career services department meets the academic programs' needs and desired outcomes.


Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean


Required Qualifications/Experience:

Master's degree in educational administration, counseling, college student personnel, or related field required. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in career planning and employment work is preferable in a centralized operation. Experience program development, supervision and evaluation, budgeting, and computerization. The individual must interact effectively with people, possess excellent communication skills and leadership ability, and be dedicated to the National Association of Colleges and Employers principles and practices of career planning, employment, and recruitment.
