Continuous Improvement Engineer

Salary Range
$70,000.00 - $80,000.00

This position is responsible for driving Lean Culture change throughout the company. Through the use of continuous improvement tools, implement process improvements that improve flow, identify and eliminate waste and deliver significant bottom line benefit to the company.

  • Continuously drives culture change and acceptance of Lean Manufacturing principles across the organization.
  • Facilitate systematic problem solving and implementing solutions to solve the root-cause of problems related to non-conforming material and corrective action processes.
  • Provide leadership and training for root cause analysis and corrective action to all levels within the organization.
  • Support manufacturing with the implementation efficient and reliable Lean Manufacturing processes.
  • Supports Kaizen workshop activities and events.
  • Inspires and encourages the use of best practices throughout the organization.
  • Engages plant management and employees in conceptualizing, planning, and implementing, and sustaining continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing tools.
  • Frequently follows up with appropriate stakeholders to ensure timely and effective implementation and sustainability of continuous improvement projects.
  • Assist with leadership to include identifying opportunities, defining and financially justifying projects.
  • Collects and monitors activities to assess trends and opportunities to provide proactive recommendations.
  • Assist with establishing the measuring and tracking process for each initiative and provides timely reports to all stakeholders.

Education & Experience

  • BS Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or other related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years experience in lean manufacturing environment with proven demonstration of lean manufacturing tools such as waste identification and elimination, problem solving / root cause analysis, Kanban, TPM, 6S, visual management, SMED, standard work, etc.
  • Experienced Kaizen event facilitator / leader must have led at least 10 events.
  • Leadership, presentation, project management, coaching, mentoring, and influencing skills required.
  • Lean, Six Sigma or Malcom Baldrige Certifications a real plus.
  • Change Agent must be able to lead, train and drive change.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in advanced engineering/statistical problem-solving methods is required.

  • Self motivated individual able to multi-task effectively and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in basic manufacturing principles, with metalworking, machining, weld, paint, and assembly experience a plus.
  • Excellent communication, computer, reporting, and analytical skills.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
