Job Description

Reporting to Director, Learning, the Education Specialist supports all aspects of the AAAHC education programs. This includes designing, developing, implementing, evaluating, and continuously improving AAAHC education programs for AAAHC surveyors, accredited organizations, organizations seeking accreditation, and all relevant stakeholders.

This role is integral to advancing our organizational mission and realizing our strategic theme to “measurably drive quality improvement in patient care”, specifically through creating and delivering compelling and relevant learning experiences to AAAHC clients and surveyors.

  • Design and develop interactive, engaging, and visually appealing learning content for instructor-led seminars, online webinars, self-paced eLearning, and blended learning, based on the learning and performance needs of the target audience.
  • Collaborate with and manage subject matter experts (SMEs; committee members, other AAAHC volunteers, and staff) to identify appropriate content, method of delivery, and learning approaches, and to establish and adhere to project timelines.
  • Edit and enhance recorded video and audio content ensuring high quality prior to publication.
  • Publish and upload learning content to AAAHC’s Learning Management System (LMS); update and maintain LMS content, learner transcripts, and report data.
  • Troubleshoot and solve technical problems associated with eLearning programs and LMS usage, and respond to day-to-day client questions and inquiries.
  • Conduct evaluations to monitor and report on the effectiveness of training for learners in achieving learning and performance goals. Evaluate performance of current activities against audience satisfaction and participation volume targets and conduct periodic analyses of competitors’ educational offerings (at least annually).
  • Update and maintain the centralized learning content library to manage different types of educational content and control versions, and to increase content consistency and reusability.
  • In collaboration with Marketing & Business Development and other functional areas, conduct periodic needs assessments of AAAHC clients and Surveyors to identify learning gaps, unmet learning needs and potential new learner experience initiatives; analyze data to identify unmet needs, new audiences, and emerging topics.
  • Coordinate and document continuing education credit information as needed; ensure that AAAHC educational offerings are in compliance with relevant continuing education providers.
  • Support AAAHC education-focused committee(s) in guiding education policies and contributing to curriculum development; may include agenda development, supporting materials collation, and meeting minutes.

Minimum Qualifications and Job-specific Competencies Required

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years full time work experience
  • Demonstrated Project Management experience; organized
  • Analytical thinker; problem solver
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in developing education programs
  • Personable, professional presence; ability to communicated effectively with a variety of adult audiences
  • Proficient in PowerPoint and developing stories for various audiences
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, demanding environment; effective in managing through ambiguity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters in Education or a related field
  • Experience setting up and maintaining an LMS or other learning system
  • Corporate training development or adult learning experience
  • Health care work exposure; familiarity with health care accreditation or other regulatory environments
  • Instructional design experience
  • Experience working with faculty and subject matter experts for content development
