Job Description

We are seeking an Associate Technical Project manager responsible for planning and overseeing technical projects that involve multiple departments at the company, including IT, data security, development departments, and research. Working along upper management, the role would be responsible for understanding the current infrastructure and communication systems, implementing high quality, effective processes, and coordinating across all technical departments to ensure initiatives and projects are completed efficiently, in a timely fashion, and in line with the company’s strategy.

Multiple teams with different areas of focus support Acumen’s work, including IT, data security, development departments, and research. These teams work together on a variety of complex projects that require expertise from multiple perspectives to succeed. The nature of this collaboration calls for a technical project manager that has a deep understanding of technical solutions, a proven track record of working across departments, and a commitment to delivering high quality results.

As a fast-growing area of the company, technical projects are in need of both rapid solutions that respond to current demands and longer-term enhancements to implement planned developments.

This person in this role will be responsible for:

·         Functioning as the first point of contact for various tech teams at Acumen.

·         Coordinating across all disciplines in creating affordable, high quality, innovative, scalable and user-friendly technology solutions

·         Assuming full ownership of the success of technical projects as assigned.

·         Communicating status updates to partner groups and senior management.

·         Driving process development to improve the overall communication and standard operating procedures within and across tech teams.

To succeed in this role, you will need to:

·         Establish strong relationships with partner groups by regularly seeking input and feedback.

·         Have a healthy skepticism of existing mechanisms and regularly assess the effectiveness of the system.

·         Lead by example: approach each interaction with a perspective about how it should play out.

·         Foster and maintain a team-oriented attitude.

·         Demonstrate abilities to grasp complex situations and understanding of trade-offs between short-term, less desirable solutions and longer-term solutions that are ideal but do not have the resources to achieve completion within a fixed timeframe.

Responsibilities:

  • Work across technical teams to understand their needs and workflow
  • Manage multiple work streams under compressed timeframes
  • Handle communication with other teams and divisions, including tracking and reporting on meetings
  • Coordinate project management activities, resources and information among team members while providing support as needed
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports
  • Monitor project progress, milestone achievement and aligning it with strategy and delivery schedules
  • Identify and resolve any project issues or obstacles that arise
  • Identify gaps or shortcomings in processes or products and make improvements
  • Develop and update resources for Acumen’s technical teams
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures for programs supported by technical, operational, and security teams
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, flowcharts, and step-by-step action plans including contingencies

Qualifications Required:

  • The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Included in the 3 years are:
  • A minimum of 1 year driving projects from idea to final product
  • A minimum of 2 years coordinating across teams
  • Bachelors or Masters in a technical and/or management field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, etc.)

Qualifications Required:

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other teams and customers.
  • Ability to work flexibly and manage shifting priorities.
  • Experience in developing detailed plans with specific goals, priorities, timelines and budgets to implement projects with long term-milestones successfully.
  • Experience in process improvement methodology, change management, and operational improvement in complex systems.
  • Experience standardizing complex processes.
