Essential Functions
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess and estimate the commercial potential of invention disclosures.
- Perform market research, technology valuations, create marketing materials, identify potential licensees, and initiate outreach to engage potential licensees and/or collaborators.
- Work closely with the business development managers and Purdue innovators to develop strategies for the commercialization of Purdue technologies.
- Communicate with industry counterparts, innovators, BD managers and patent attorneys on invention disclosures, marketing and licensing activities, and IP matters.
- Assist life science business development and licensing team with the initiation and execution of licensing agreements from the assigned IP portfolio.
- Develop and present strategies to enable technology transfer of Purdue intellectual property, primarily in areas of life sciences.
- Advise Purdue inventors regarding Purdue intellectual property policies and related technology commercialization issues.
- Draft contract amendments and monitor contract compliance and other aspects of relationships with licensees and collaborators.
Additional Responsibilities
- Monitor and account for budget expenditures associated with all assigned duties.
- Participate in educational development opportunities to gain an in-depth understanding of the technology licensing field.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Knowledge of technology transfer within industry and/or academia preferred.
- Ability to gather information, perform research utilizing databases and other online sources and distill into actionable information.
- Must be able to evaluate the market potential of early-stage inventions in life sciences.
- Basic understanding or willingness to learn contract documents and intellectual property strategy.
- Excellent teamwork organizational, analytical skills, problem-solving, computer, written/verbal communication skills required.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and complete projects on a timely basis working both independently as well as in a team environment.
- Familiarity with CRM software such as Salesforce and process optimization tools such as Microsoft Power Automate is a plus.
- Must be comfortable interacting with people from varied disciplines at various leadership levels in an organization and with managing multiple complex projects.
- Must be curious and deeply value exposure to and learning about new technology, concepts, people and organizations.
- Occasional travel required.
- This is not a remote-only position. Although, PRF has flexible work policy, applicants are expected to work on-site when required.
Education/Experience
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in life science; an advanced degree in business a plus.
- Related industry experience highly desirable.
