Job Description

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare, has a newly created position for a diplomatic, critical thinker to provide project management and support for the development and revision of AAP Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) and related Quality activities.

 

Some tasks include:

1.             Manage the assembly of subcommittees for the authorship of assigned CPGs.

2.            Provide project management for the development, review and revision of AAP policy, guidelines and reports.

3.            Maintain project timelines, dashboards, and report documentation of project progress. 

4.           Work collaboratively with AAP members, Clinical Guidelines Methodologist, and other AAP relevant staff to coordinate policy and guideline development, review, and revision.

5.            Manage the coordination of applicable CPG subcommittee(s) including planning and facilitating committee agendas and meetings as requested.

6.            Work with methodologist to manage literature and systematic evidence reviews.

7.            Provide technical assistance and serve as primary point of contact for inquiries regarding the status of assigned CPGs.

8.            Maintain guideline related online resources on websites, collaboration sites, and project work sites.

9.            Assist with the development of requests for proposals, funding applications, manuscripts, reports, and other documents as requested.

10.        Support member workgroups as assigned.

 

Qualifications needed:

1.        Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, education, or related discipline required, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience. Strong project management experience required, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus.

2.       At least two years’ related experience in project management related to health care, quality, education, or research activities required. Experience working with clinical guidelines or policy development within a medical association with physician members strongly preferred.

3.        Excellent organizational, project management, interpersonal, critical thinking, diplomacy, and written/oral communication skills required. Strong technical acumen with proficiency in MS Office and the ability to learn and apply new technologies; experience with web maintenance software (eg, SharePoint), project management software (eg, Smartsheet), document collaboration platforms (eg, SharePoint), reference management software (eg, EndNote), and virtual meeting platforms (eg, WebEx, Teams) preferred. Must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously within established deadlines, manage a heavy workload, pay close attention to detail, work both independently and as part of a team, collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents, and promote and maintain a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Some evening/weekend work and travel required, as well as the ability to be flexible with work schedule to accommodate physicians’ availability.

 

Hybrid working arrangement of 40% on-site at our Chicago suburb headquarters in Itasca, IL.
