MECHANICAL ENGINEER TECHNICIAN

Location: Picatinny Arsenal, Wharton, NJ

Looking for a new opportunity to work on something different and unique? Total Technology Inc., a federal contracting firm, has a Full-Time, Non-exempt position available at Picatinny Arsenal, for a Mechanical Engineer Technician with 3 – 5+ years of experience. This position works with the FUZE Team in support of their mission.

What will you be doing?

·       Program/Run Mill (MasterCAM)

• Program/Run Lathe (MasterCAM)
• Program, setup and run CNC/Lathe, CNC Mill and Manual Machinery.
• Review drawings, instructions, blueprints to ensure accurate production.
• Machined part inspection using calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
• System assembly
• Inspection of mechanical parts using basic metrology tools and best practices.
• Setup/Breakdown Machinery
• Selection/Procurement of Tooling
• Interface with Engineering Counterparts
• Read mechanical drawings to determine stock sizes, tool lists and fixturing needs.

What skills will the ideal candidate need?

• Proficiency in Windows based computing. MS 365 products

·       Basic understanding of GD&T.

• CAD software proficiency in CREO
• Very detail oriented; high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and work well within a team.
• Strong people skills and communication skills.
• Highly organized skills.
• Ability to multi-task and maintain focus on work-at hand.

What education and experience are necessary for success in this role?

• Mechanical Engineering Technician Degree
• 3-5 + years of experience
• Software Experience: CAM (MasterCAM Mill/Lathe), CAD (CREO preferred)
• Machine Experience: Haas Mill (VF-3), Haas Lathe (DS-30YT), Fanuc/Robodrill (3+2), Manual Mill/Lathe
• Must have firsthand capability experience in a lab setting and is able to function comfortably as an electromechanical tech to build and prove out designs. (soldering, drilling, wiring, crimping, use of hand tools, etc.)
• Must be able to Obtain Secret clearance.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen to work in a military facility.
