The position:
AMEWAS, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and talented Sheet Metal Technician (Fabrication Painting Processes) to support Aircraft Prototype System Division. This position is on a SCA contract which is subject to the terms and conditions of the McNamara-O’Hara Service Contract Act (SCA).

This position is classified as AMEWAS labor category Technician.

A typical day as a Sheet Metal Technician (Fabrication Painting Processes) may include:

  • Performing repairs, fabrication, modification and installation of sheet metal parts, items  and assemblies
  • Using knowledge of the physical properties and working characteristics of sheet metal
  • Using knowledge of tools and equipment required in the sheet metal trade
  • Using knowledge of shop mathematics and principles
  • Painting, plating, and engraving (Sheet metal fabrication special processes)


Must-haves:

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • Working with assigned senior technician(s) to perform and assist with APSD fabrication shop special processes that include: Aircraft part/assembly Painting in accordance with APSD Standard Operating Procedures and Process
  • Assisting in completion of log sheets and checklists in each of the disciplines/special process areas
  • Assisting in surface preparation of parts for paint process
  • Assisting personnel and shop lead on the shop floor as required
  • Participating in shop organization, layout, machine maintenance, etc.
  • Experience working with specific sheet metal special process (Painting)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

Physical environment and working conditions:
The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site.
