The position:
AMEWAS, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and talented Engineering Technician-Night Shift to support Electromagnetic Environmental Effects. This position is on a SCA contract which is subject to the terms and conditions of the McNamara-O’Hara Service Contract Act (SCA).

This position is classified as AMEWAS labor category Technician.

A typical day as an Engineering Technician may include:
  • Providing operations/maintenance support and technical engineering/program support for Hangar 144 (shielded Hangar), the Aircraft Anechoic Test Facility (AATF) and the Advanced System Integration Laboratory (ASIL)
  • Assisting with coordinating, scheduling and providing for Test Project Engineers’ aircraft, facility use and Support Equipment (SE) needs
  • Delivering SE to the Fleet Readiness Center (FRC) for preventative or unscheduled maintenance, as required
  • Scheduling and obtaining SE from FRC for project support
  • Maintaining fueling ground support equipment
  • Assisting in aircraft fueling operations
  • Providing aircraft cooling air
  • Providing fire watch
  • Purging aircraft, connects and operates hydraulic carts for aircraft operation
  • Activating/Deactivating the facilities fire alarm as required for test support
  • Tracking and performing required preventative maintenance
  • Operating government equipment such as forklift, man lift, tug and other equipment as required
  • Assisting with crane rigging
  • Conducting facilities maintenance

Must-haves:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • This position is a night shift position
  • Willingness to work 2nd shift hours or as requested by the customer
  • Previous experience using hand tools
  • Comfortable using computers
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness to work overtime when required by testing schedule
  • Possesses a positive attitude and is able to work well with others
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

Physical environment and working conditions:
The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site. 

The physical environment requires the employee to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and picking up items less than 50 lbs. and/or operating machinery to assist in the movement of heavy objects such as forklifts and dollies.  This position may also require driving government vehicles.
