About the Role:

Reporting to Director, Learning, the Education Specialist supports all aspects of the AAAHC education programs. This includes designing, developing, implementing, evaluating, and continuously improving AAAHC education programs for AAAHC surveyors and staff, accredited organizations, organizations seeking accreditation, and all relevant stakeholders.

This role is integral to advancing our organizational mission and realizing our strategic theme to “measurably drive quality improvement in patient care”, specifically through creating and delivering compelling and relevant learning experiences to AAAHC clients and surveyors.

  • Design and develop interactive, engaging, and visually appealing learning content for instructor-led seminars, online webinars, self-paced eLearning, and blended learning, based on the learning and performance needs of the target audience. 
  • Collaborate with and manage subject matter experts (SMEs; committee members, other AAAHC volunteers, and staff) to identify appropriate content, method of delivery, and learning approaches, and to establish and adhere to project timelines. 
  • Publish and upload learning content to AAAHC’s Learning Management System (LMS); update and maintain LMS content, learner transcripts, and report data.
  • Respond to internal/external client questions and inquiries.
  • Conduct evaluations to monitor and report on the effectiveness of training for learners in achieving learning and performance goals. 
  • Conduct periodic analyses of competitors’ educational offerings.
  • Maintain the centralized learning content library to ensure content consistency and reusability. 
  • In collaboration with Marketing & Business Development and other functional areas, conduct periodic needs assessments of AAAHC clients and Surveyors to identify learning gaps, unmet learning needs and potential new learner experience initiatives.
  • Coordinate and document Continuing Education Credit (CEU) information as needed; ensure that AAAHC educational offerings are compliant with relevant CEU providers.
  • Support AAAHC education-focused committee(s) in guiding education policies and contributing to curriculum development; may include agenda development, supporting materials collation, and meeting minutes.
  • Create instructional guides in support of education initiatives and programs.
  • Collaborate and assist with staff development initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications and Job-specific Competencies Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design or other related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of five years of directly related work experience
  • Detailed knowledge of and experience with concepts, practices, and procedures of Instructional Design and Development 
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging and visually appealing learning content
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other web-based and eLearning technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while maintaining excellent quality and superior customer services
  • Effective communication abilities, technical writing and editing, and presentation skills 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an acute or ambulatory health care setting
  • Experience with e-learning authoring tools
  • Graduate or advanced degree in Instructional Design or related field
  • Knowledge of emerging and progressive instructional design techniques and strategies
