POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Senior Manager, Business Intelligence serves as lead project manager responsible for transforming data into insight that can help guide operations, inform and validate business decisions, and increase value for our clients and regulatory partners. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and manage business intelligence solutions for the organization
  • Design and generate dashboards and reports through BI office applications and interfaces with AAAHC core systems that improve business processes and decisions
  • Collaborate with team members for the purpose of collecting data, designing reports, and executing the company’s mission
  • Analyze business requirements and processes and recommend enhancements to leadership for implementation that streamline and improves operations for efficiency and profitability
  • Create and maintain documentation that includes the design, requirements, report/dashboard standards, and BI user manuals for the organization

Additionally, this Senior Manager role will lead cross-divisional high profile strategic initiatives including handbook production and new product design, and other special CEO-assigned projects.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

Transform data into insight that can help to improve the value of the business—guide operations, inform and validate business decisions, and increase value for our clients and regulatory partners. 

  • Develop and manage AAAHC business intelligence solutions including RFP development, tool selection (e.g., BI applications, research applications, data warehouse), contract negotiations, solution implementation, data configuration, user training, and ongoing consultant and vendor management
  • Determine data structure that integrates information from core operating systems—Accreditation Management System (AMS; legacy and new applications), Financial Management System (FMS), Learning Management System, and Website
  • Design and generate dashboards and reports through BI office applications and interfaces with AAAHC core systems that improve business processes and decisions for both AAAHC and our key clients. Transform AMS and other system data into reports and data streams that fulfill AAAHC contractual requirements/agreements for CMS, State agencies and key client groups.
  • Collaborate with team members on data collection, report design, Super User training, etc.
  • Analyze business requirements and processes, identify trends and insights, and recommend enhancements to leadership for implementation that streamline and improve operations efficiency and profitability; collaborate with departments on research design using Qualtrics or other tools
  • Create and maintain documentation that includes design, requirements, report/dashboard standards, report generation processes, and BI user manuals for the organization

Serve as lead project manager for cross-divisional high profile strategic initiatives including handbook production and product design

  • Define project scope and objectives in collaboration with internal stakeholders, leadership, and governance members; develop project charters, detailed project plans, and work breakdown structures
    1. Lead project planning sessions; guide project scope definition and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility, and mission, vision, and strategy alignment
    2. Create and maintain comprehensive project plans and associated documentation
    3. Ensure resource availability and allocation; delegate project tasks based on team member roles, individual strengths, skill sets, and experience levels, and in coordination with business management
    4. Develop spreadsheets, diagrams, and process maps to document needs, explain processes, and convey progress
    5. Participate in the Request for Proposal (RFP) process including RFP draft development, vendor research and RFP distribution, review, and decision process coordination, as appropriate
    6. Collaborate with Finance, Legal and other internal stakeholders to draft, negotiate and ensure proper contract signoff as necessary, and determine and evaluate project costs
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
    1. Monitor and track progress against approved project plans including short and long-term goals. Facilitate project status meetings; identify and communicate issues and statuses to drive decisions and manage stakeholder expectations
    2. Hold team members accountable for managing project issues, escalations, and problem resolution; monitor third parties/vendor performance for effective project execution
    3. Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques; report progress and escalate variations to plan to leadership as needed. Design and continuously update project risk mitigation plans including project timeline, resource, and budget issues
    4. Conduct project review and regularly produce detailed reports for leadership that demonstrate progress accomplished, issues resolved, and obstacles or concerns requiring mitigation
  • Identify growth opportunities and initiate the stage gate process for new approved initiatives
    1. Manage and actively participate in the product / program lifecycle process and establish stage gate milestones to ensure compliance with policies, commitments, and targets
    2. Collaborate with expert governance groups that support project execution and product/program development; as appropriate, prepare materials, and write/revise memoranda to support timely decisions, updates, and other needed engagement
    3. Collaborate with Marketing and Finance on new program volume, cost, pricing and revenue projections. 

General Management

  • Lead the BI team; hire, manage, mentor, evaluate, develop, and coach all direct reports to assure cross-department collaboration and synergies. Oversee quality and quantity of work performed to optimize alignment with departmental and organizational goals. 
  • Manage diverse teams through influence vs. direct reporting relationships

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications and Job-specific Competencies Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR equivalent 5+ years’ experience in a fast-paced organization supporting an executive-level individual or team
  • Proven working experience in Business Intelligence and project management including at least five years’ experience in product development, product/project management including establishing objectives, creating plans, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines within budget
  • Superior research, analytical, planning, organizational skills, and detail-orientation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders; ability to exercise diplomacy, gather information from others, make inquiries, and synthesize information; editing and proofreading skills are essential
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic/tactical planning and leading cross functional teams to develop and implement plans; demonstrated ability to interact with persons of all backgrounds
  • Ability to frame complex issues for discussion and decision in an understandable, compelling, and persuasive manner to management
  • High tolerance for ambiguity, very strong problem-solving ability; strategic, critical, and creative thinker, strong business sense and excellent financial and analytic skills
  • Ability to coordinate several tasks at one time and perform well under pressure; capable of “managing up” to ensure deadlines are met and priorities kept
  • Ability to work independently, exercise mature professional judgment, and use discretion
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), project management tools, and business intelligence applications (e.g., Qlik, Power BI)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)/PRINCE II Certification or Masters in Project Management
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Administration
  • Consulting experience with major consulting organization considered
  • Recent health care-focused experience
  • Knowledge of health care accreditation and the regulatory environment
